This jig will allow you to reweld your VZ-61 receiver that came in your parts kit. The jig comes standard with the machined magwell backing plate, hardware, copper pins (all three sizes), instructions and a small bag of extra hardware. The jig base is machined from 6061-T6, and the sides are laser cut from 5052-H32
The jig features "open" sides so the user can tack weld the receiver back together from the outside. The receiver can then be removed from the jig and fit checked with the upper receiver, magazines and trigger components, etc... prior to completing the welding. The jig also features a relief in the base and in the right hand side plate so the user can actually use the fixing plate during the reweld process. This allows the user to have two ways to set the spacing on the two middle receiver sections.
Be sure to check out the masterclass build videos. Ep.1 and Ep.2 showcase the modifications required to build a semi-auto variant. Note modifications are required to both the receiver and FCG.
Make sure you get a parts kit before purchasing a jig to be sure this is a project you want to tackle. Some parts kits do not come with all receiver pieces (i.e. Atlantic, Royal Tiger Imports, Arms of America)
The best kits (hands down) are numrich and Bowman. Numich parts kits are torch cut vertically making for the easiest reweld. Bowman has great kits as well.
Other kits to consider are from Max Arms, AKoptions, and centerfire systems. Normally kits from these 3 vendors come with torch cuts that render the rear stub and front magwell section unusable. For a streamlined rewelding experience, you can pick up a new rear stub and front magwell section from Gator Gun Parts and merge the two receivers together.
VZ-61 Skorpion Rewelding Jig
Rewelding Skorpions can be timeconsuming and it will be tempting to reweld the entire receiver within the jig. However for Jig life span especially the side plates, it is recommended to only use the jig for tack welding and then complete the welding process outside the jig. If any of your jig parts are rendered unusable during reweld, I have spare parts available for purchase or will warranty certain parts if necessary.
